Don't Panic

Should I watch Razor yet?

I guess this is addressed to those who have already seen Razor, but anyone who has been spoiled is free to suggest.

I watched all of season 3 before I'd ever seen any of the first two seasons.  While this was a lot of fun, it's pretty annoying to be constantly asking friends to explain things to me.  I don't want that to happen again for Razor.  Fortunately, I've gotten my hands on the season 1 and 2 DVDs (finally!), and I've been watching like a madman to catch up.  I just made it through Resurrection Ship today, thus concluding the Pegasus episodes for the first 2 seasons (I think!).

My question then:  at what point will I be able to watch Razor without that same experience of not knowing everything that's going on?  I know it won't take too long to get through the rest of season 2.5, but I'm so antsy to watch Razor tonight after all of these months away from BSG.  Will I have enough background by now?

I guess the bigger question for those curious to watch Razor who have never seen BSG is: what are the most prerequisite episodes to watch, or does Razor do a good job of providing background on its own?

I'm sure I don't have to remind any of you that Razor makes its television debut TONIGHT -- 9/8C.

IT IS IMPORTANT that you all follow our community rules and keep Razor discussion and details behind an LJ-cut with an appropriate spoiler warning. I won't be online until an hour or two after Razor airs, so if any of the co-mods see someone posting spoilers or not following the rules, I'm encouraging them to DELETE THE POST immediately. No warning, no "sorry I had to delete your post" comments - just erase 'em! People should be able to follow a few simple rules. *cracks whip*

I encourage all of you to bookmark our Razor Review Thread and post your comments and thoughts over there. It makes it easier for the rest of us to just look at one thread - plus then our friend pages aren't overflowing with separate posts. But it's up to you.

Again, here's the link to our Razor Episode Review Thread.

After you watch Razor, head on over, join the fun!
It's going to be the last episode review thread we see for a long time, so hopefully it'll become a huge crazy hotbed of in-depth discussion. :)

Thanks, everyone --
Have a great BSG-filled evening!

the chief's speech on new caprica

i dunno how many of you have read anything by henry thoreau, but i started reading walden a few days ago, and while looking up stuff on thoreau on wikipedia (the source of all mis-information), i came upon this thing he wrote called civil disobedience. (link to the full text on project gutenberg)

how does this relate to bsg? well, because chief tyrol gave a speech on new caprica that's actually part of mario savio's speech given in 1964 (youtube link), and there's a part in civil disobedience that really reminds me of both tyrol and savio's speeches:

"If the injustice is part of the necessary friction of the machine of government, let it go, let it go: perchance it will wear smooth—certainly the machine will wear out. If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then I say, break the law. Let your life be a counter-friction to stop the machine. What I have to do is to see, at any rate, that I do not lend myself to the wrong which I condemn."

kinda random, i know, but i thought that was interesting. and i really find myself agreeing with both. or all three, or... whatever...

BSG convention love in Germany

Two weeks ago, Luciana "Kat" Carro and Patrick Currie (Enzo in "The Passage" as well as three SG-1 roles) were among the star guests at Crossroads, a small genre convention in the small town of Bad Salzdetfurth, Lower Saxony, Germany.

We were only a few BSG fans among more than 120 Gaters, but like at Utopia in October, we were once again treated breath-takingly generously by Luciana. This time, party animal Lucci threw in some wicked dancing and a hilarious improv perfomance, too.

Besides, teaming up the on-screen enemies of "The Passage" for the first time since shooting the episode, proved to be the perfect recipe for an entertaining joint panel.

Starbuck's Hoodie/Sweatshirt

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so feel free to delete if necessary.

I was wondering if anyone knows where do they sell Starbuck's Galactica hoodie/sweatshirt she seem to wear most of the time when she's off duty? I think it's pretty neat and it'd be nice to own one.
